It is understood that when the temperature rises above 1000 ℃, most optical materials will experience problems such as transmittance attenuation and refractive index drift. The transparency of sapphire in the visible to mid infrared wavelength range (0.15-5.5 μ m) is almost unaffected by temperature. At 1500 ℃, the transmittance of sapphire lens in 400-700nm band only decreases by 2.3%, which is far better than the 15% attenuation rate of fused silica. When a 4K laser projector continues to operate, the optical module (laser head) will generate heat, causing other components to be exposed to high temperatures. If the protective glass of the optical module (laser head) cannot withstand high temperatures and causes optical performance degradation, it will greatly affect the imaging quality of the laser equipment.


Sapphire glass, with its ultra-high melting point (about 2040 ℃), excellent thermal conductivity, optical stability, and high transmittance (sapphire material itself has a transmittance of about 84%, which can reach over 90% after coating), has become a reliable protective glass for laser projection equipment.
